Tunneling
Live Audio-Visual-Sculptural performance
This performance serves as a hybrid forensic investigation / tutorial, in which I dig a multilayered, projected tunnel in the wall of the performance space, revealing real and imagined substructures, materials and memories. The process utilizes high and low special effects techniques drawn from across the military-industrial-entertainment complex: from tactical wall probes to domestic demolitions, from live esthetic surgery to interactive cooking shows.
The piece is highly site-sensitive, as a different “tunnel” is constructed according to the materials and contexts present at the location of the performance. The project is an ongoing platform, incorporating text, sound and materials from my other audio visual projects focusing around different subject matter and site-sensitive context each time it is performed.
