Krum / Membrane (2006-7)

In Krum, an image of the building is projected upon itself on a 1 to 1 scale. It is then cut into pieces and prodded with a electronic pen, stretching and slicing the building facade. The pressure of the pen causes the “membrane” of the building to grow transparent and reveals the night-vision camera image of the grind-metal drummer David Opp, performing in the dark behind the wall that is being projected on. The amplified sound of the drums themselves grows louder the harder the membrane is prodded. Alternately the facade may be “cut”, which reveals a flock of fighter planes, hovering in the dark beneath the building’s skin.
